Open and drain the cans of baked beans. Brown the sausage with the onions and bell pepper.
Pour the beans into a large dutch oven cast iron pot. Add the sausage mixture along with the can of apple pie filling. Stir gently to combine.
Add the bbq sauce, brown sugar mustard, W sauce, and hot rub and gently stir again to incorporate.
Place the dutch oven on the pit and smoke for 2 hours stirring occasionally.
Serve warm with your favorite smoked meats.
I followed the recipe it was absolutely amazing me and my wife made it on a camping trip in my new cast iron pot it’s a keeper
I make these often, they are always a hit. Brown the sausage first I also add a large pinch of crushed hot peppers. I sub mustard powder for the mustard. Also I second the above note of choping the apples up a bit first i do it while they are in the can run a knife through about a dozen times
Outstanding! I chop up the apples so they “blend” better. Very easy to make and always a favorite.
Really unique (delivious) take on baked beans. Very quick to prepare.
I’ve made these twice already and everyone LOVED them. I’m making them again for Christmas dinner. They are awesome!!! Just for anyone that doesn’t have a smoker I made them on the stove and just let them simmer on low for a couple hours they were still delicious!
